What are the benefits of joining the club?

You get to hang out with a group of people who share a common interest with you.We provide the launch equipment for you to fly your rockets. This eliminates the need for you to purchase a launch pad and controller. POTROCS members receive discount launch fees for flying at our special events and free launch fees for fun flies. You get access to the club e-group for sharing information. The new photo gallery section is for POTROCS members only to share pictures of their rocketry activities. The pictures can be of anything that is rocketry related; for example, parachutes, electronics, motors and rockets. The biggest benefit to the club is the sharing and learning that happens between members and the friendships which are formed.

Why should I join a national organization like Tripoli or NAR?

The simple answer is protection. Both Tripoli and NAR (National Association of Rocketry) provid insurance to protect you financially should a mishap occur with your rocket. This is from the Tripoli website: The Tripoli Rocketry Association carries General Liability Insurance covering launch events, meetings, classes, seminars and other Tripoli Sanctioned Events. This policy covers events hosted by a Tripoli Prefecture and the rocketry activities of a member. The policy covers injury and property damage to spectators, innocent bystanders, and Tripoli Members. There is no coverage for Tripoli Members who cause bodily injury or property damage to themselves as a result of their rocketry activities. Be safe, don't have unprotected rockets.

The second and most enjoyable reason is Tripoli and NAR both provide certification which will allow you to fly rockets on motors with an H impulse and higher. If you are not certified by Tripoli or NAR you cannot legally purchase a motor with hight than a G or launch it.

Do I need to be a member of NAR or Tripoli to be a member of POTROCS?

No, but you cannot launch high power rockets (anything in excess of G impulse) without being a member of Tripoli or NAR. Proof of certification level and current membership is required for all high power launches.
